Sometimes Guidance Arrives on Four Legs

There’s something about animals that reaches us differently.

I believe animals live in a natural state of grace.

They don’t seem to carry all the mental noise we do.

They aren’t replaying yesterday or worrying about tomorrow.

They’re simply present.

And when we connect with them, they can draw us into that presence too.

For a moment, we stop thinking so much.

We soften. Our hearts open a little more easily.

Perhaps that’s why animals can have such a powerful role in therapy, rehabilitation, and simple companionship.

Sometimes their presence says more than words can.

That idea became an important part of my novel, The Light of Grace.

Grace is a newly assigned angel guiding four humans across different periods of history.

But she can’t always reach them directly.

That’s where Aelfraed comes in.

Aelfraed is her companion and ambassador in the physical world, appearing in different animal forms.

Sometimes as a dog. Sometimes a wolf. Sometimes something else entirely.

Through him, Grace can reach people in a form they can see, touch, and trust.

I loved that idea because it reflects something many of us already understand instinctively.

Love and guidance don’t always arrive through words.

Sometimes they arrive quietly.

Sometimes they sit beside us.

And sometimes they arrive on four legs.

If you’ve ever felt that an animal understood you in a way that was difficult to explain, I think you’ll appreciate Aelfraed’s role in The Light of Grace. You can learn more about the book here.
